Guangdong Provincial Secretary-General Xu Shangwu , Guangzhou Australian Consul General Sean Kelly and his wife, and Australian actor Byran Brown attended the Kingold Australian Film Festival Reception.

Australian National Day Reception was held on Jan 26 2010 and was also the opening of the 2010 Kingold Australian Film Festival, held at Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Guangzhou. Secretary General of Guangdong Provincial Government Xu Shangwu and the Chairman of Kingold Group Zhou Zerong were among the attendees at the gala opening.

The festival will screen 10 Australian award-winning films with a diverse range of themes such as the historical Kokoda, cartoon style Mary and Max, large scale film Australia, and the well known story of Samson and Delilah in Ten Canoes. These 10 films bring the uniqueness of the Australia culture to movie fans.

The first film of the festival will be shown at the Feiyang Cinema starting Jan 27. "Australia has a vibrant and innovative film industry that has made a significant contribution to world cinema. We hope that this festival will lead to many more Australian films being enjoyed on cinema screens throughout China." Mr. Kelly, Australia Consul General Guangzhou said.
